Andy Mildner (CIMA)

About Andy

Andy Mildner is the founder of Love Your Accountants (LYA), a forward-thinking, proactive accounting business that uses technology to give clients real clarity around their numbers so they can make the right decisions and stay on track with their goals. He's spent three decades across corporate finance, fund administration and accountancy, and brings a rare mix of technical depth and hands-on business mentoring to his work.

Current Roles

Founder, Love Your Accountants:
Andy founded LYA in Epsom, Surrey, and has built it into a proactive, tech-driven accountancy practice. Today his work is centred on complex tax matters, including EMI, EIS and SEIS share schemes and Capital Gains Tax, alongside month-end management accounts and financial analysis. He approaches client work from an advisory and business mentor/coach angle rather than simply fixing problems as they arise. His focus is on educating clients along the way and building a genuinely solid, long-term relationship with them.

Fractional FD, Qplay Ltd:
Andy also provides fractional Finance Director support to QPLAY Ltd, working alongside CEO Stuart Nice.

Professional Background

Before founding LYA, Andy held senior roles across fund administration and financial services:

  • Associate Director, Augentius Fund Administration LLP: managed a team of 10 accountants, overseeing a multi-national portfolio of private equity and real estate funds.
  • Assistant Director, IPES: co-managed the London office and looked after a portfolio of clients over more than four years.
  • Senior Accountant, Credit Suisse.
  • Financial Analyst, Equifax: financial analyst for the consumer line of business and head of budgeting.
  • Management Accountant, Mortgage Trust: accountant for over 20 entities, responsible for management information systems, building a portfolio management database and forecasting system, and providing front office financial support.

Education

Andy qualified as a CIMA accountant in 1999 and also holds a BA (Hons) in Mathematics and Management Studies from Brunel University of London. He completed his secondary education at St Andrews.

Outside Work

Away from the office, Andy is a keen golfer, enjoys learning musical instruments including guitar, and values time as a father and husband above all else. He's also an active supporter of businesses and individuals in his local community of East Grinstead.

Why This Matters

Andy's perspective comes from three decades spent on both sides of finance. He's managed multi-national private equity and real estate portfolios in fund administration, and he's also built and run his own accountancy practice from the ground up. His specialism in complex tax matters like EMI, EIS, SEIS and Capital Gains Tax comes from direct, ongoing client work rather than theory. And because he leads with advice and coaching rather than just problem-solving, his writing reflects a genuine focus on helping business owners actually understand their numbers, not just fixing what's broken. That gives his commentary practical grounding rather than a purely compliance-driven view.
